In very exciting development the management of SebaKMT AUS are pleased to announce that they have formed a partnership with US Radar Inc to market their Sub Surface Imaging Systems range of Surface Penetrating Radar units.
Subsurface Imaging Systems is a leading manufacturer and distributor of Surface Penetrating Radar (SPR) systems. The advances that they have made over the past few years has placed them as one of the world leaders in this technology. If you need to see what is on the other side of a surface, the high-profile SeekerSPR can safely help you define what you can’t see with the bare eye.
The SeekerSPR technology was first developed by ERA Technology of Leatherhead, Surrey, England, in the 1980s to locate plastic landmines as part of a British Ministry of Defence contract. It helped reduce the risk of locating these dangerous, time-delayed bombs through rubble and in the ground. After performing admirably, commercial versions of the technology were developed in 1990, incorporating improvements that made it more user-friendly to the private sector and accessible to the masses.
US Radar was formed in 1994 as the ERA Technology sales and marketing partner for the Americas. It s original mission was to promote the Seeker SPR technology, determine and test new applications, and identify product improvements.
In 2002, ERA Technology was acquired by a large organization that sold the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) division. Subsurface Imaging Systems was formed and acquired complete manufacturing and engineering capabilities and worldwide customer marketing, support and service from ERA Technology.
Since then, Subsurface Imaging Systems has made numerous product and software upgrades and continues to strive toward excellence in technological advancement, product support and application satisfaction from its worldwide customer base.
The opportunity for US Radar to expand into the Australasian market place is timely and they look forward to developing the partnership with SebaKMT AUS. SebaKMT AUS already have a fully trained and experienced trainer ready to assist new customers with their purchases.

Vivax & Metrotech move forward together
During 2009 Vivax and Metrotech consolidated their activities to build on mutual strengths and to maximize the sales, engineering and operational aspects of the businesses.
They have also launched a new logo and new website showing the two companies combined. The new logo is above.

The day to day operations will be run by Andrew Hoare, ex Managing Director of Radiodetection Ltd, and one of the founders of Vivax, Sales will be lead by Mark Drew again ex Radiodetection Sales Director and currently President of the Vivax Corp. Jeff Smith of Metrotech will hold the position of COO of USA operations and CFO of the Group, Jim Waite of Metrotech will continue as VP of the Santa Clara Engineering group, while Mark Royle remains Chief Engineer of the Exeter (UK) based Vivax engineering Team. Lou Rossetti, ex Director of Sales Fluid Conservation Systems will continue as National Sales Manager Water Products. Liming Zhang of Vivax will manage the Vivax main manufacturing facility.
Mr. Hoare said: "By consolidating these businesses we gain economies of scale and improved efficiency. We benefit from two world class engineering groups working in unison to produce new and exciting products, we will address the marketplace with a united sales force, and reduce the cost of manufacturing and administration."

ONLINE PD CONDITION MONITORING SYSTEM
SebaKMT announce the release of their new online PD monitoring system.

The LPD-Monitor (Live Partial Discharge-Monitor) is an Online PD-monitoring system for temporary or permanent monitoring of MV or HV installations up to 66kV. 16 input channels and the low weight make the LPD-Monitor the ideal system for a fast check of MV/HV-networks for critical PD inside cables or their accessories. With quick look and see tests valuable data concerning the condition of the cable can be captured and based on the results of the tests maintenance activities can be scheduled like e.g. offline PD-measurements.
The LPD-Monitor captures the PD data via inductive (HFCT) and/ or capacitive (TEV) sensors. The inductive
sensors are of the split-core type and can easily be attached around the screen or core of the cable. The capacitive sensors can be magnetically attached to switchgear or terminations. Since both sensors can be easily attached, outage time is prevented or limited to a minimum.
At regular time intervals (every 1-20 min, depending on the number of active channels) the system monitors all connected sensors. The recorded data is automatically analysed by the onboard software. The PD-data is classified and displayed in two categories, “Cable PD” and “Local PD”. The criticality of the PD is evaluated by a
comparison with a knowledge database and divided into four assessment categories. When critical PD has been detected a warning message will be generated.
Remote access to the LPD-Monitor enables the user to get instant access to the most actual PD-data or to follow the PD trend as function of time.
VLF SINUS AND TAN δ DELTA
SebaKMT now has a VLF Sinewave with a real 0.1 Hz sine wave voltage and an appropriate tan delta measurement system in our range.
This means that SebaKMT has all test and diagnostic methods and, with the development of these new technologies, has adapted these to current market requirements. The technologies that were used previously, such as those that successfully operate with non-destructive IRC and RVM diagnosis in the CDS, will, of course, also continue to be available. Similarly this also applies to the VLF cosine square-wave technology. Small, portable solutions with a low test performance are better implemented with sinusoidal voltages. High performance systems, for example, VLF systems with high voltages, such as those that were implemented with the VLF 80 kV, or large testing capacities from up to 25µF at 60 kV and 0.1 Hz, such as those currently supplied using 12 units for one large energy provider, are difficult to implement with a sinusoidal voltage and technically very quickly reach magnitudes that approach those of corresponding resonance test units. In this situation the 0.1 Hz VLF cosine square-wave will always remain the leading technology. This means that SebaKMT as the market leader is also the only complete provider of all diagnostic and testing technologies currently available.

Tan delta test system
The tan delta test unit operates directly on HV potential. As a result external influences and interferences are excluded as far as possible. The measurement is more accurate and can be reproduced.

SebaKMT has expanded the scope of services of the successful Easyloc family with the newly developed Easyloc Plus.
This is characterised by a second active frequency (8 kHz) with up to 2watts of power output on the transmitter and by a further passive frequency (100 Hz ). The 100 Hz frequency is primarily used for gas lines with cathode protection. Consequently the user is now able to specifically locate these gas lines and determine their position. Even for earth works in the field of gas lines, this system increases the level of safety for both man and machine.

SebaKMT AUS and Metrotech are pleased to announce the launch of this exciting new product. The MetroCart Subsurface Utility Surveyor bridges the locating, surveying and GIS communities. For the first time it is now possible to automatically designate the underground utility location with statistical confidence in three dimensions and directly export the results to a variety of industry standard GIS environments.
Short of visually exposing the utility location the MetroCart offers the most precise position determination available today because of its unique multi-sensor positioning engine. It provides these results while greatly increasing GIS data collection efficiency in the field.

vLOC PRO “READY FOR THE FUTURE”
SebaKMT AUS is proud to announce that our sister company Vivax have completed a number of very important developments with the vLoc Pro. The new range of locators are:-

OWTS Roadshow – Dielectric Diagnosis & Partial Discharge Measuring
Oscillating Wave Test Systems (OWTS) are used to identify, evaluate and locate partial discharge (PD) faults in a cables insulation. This has become a bigger and bigger issue for distribution and transmission networks worldwide.
As such SebaKMT and SebaKMT AUS are pleased to announce that between February and June this year we will be conducting a “Roadshow” with a OWTS M 28 Partial Discharge Test and Fault Location System. Starting in Western Australia we will be visiting the power distribution and transmission companies across Australia.
We will be using the OWTS M 28 on live faults and for conditioning testing. This will allow potential operators to see the OWTS operation in full. The OWTS range covers from the M 28 to the HV 250 for the transmission network.

VIVAX vLocPro New Features and Accessories
The VIVAX vLocPro location system has been completely revised and equipped with new features.
This includes the in-built compass, which constantly displays the route to the location street and considerably facilitates locating. The user interface was also redesigned and the system was extended with new accessories.
New accessories now include:
- A-frames for locating sheath faults
- Reader antenna for identifying a target line within a cable bundle
- Pipeline transmitter probe for locating non-metallic pipelines
- Flex-transmitter with 640 Hz frequency, also identifiable in cast iron pipes.
The location precision was also improved and now allows the user to perform complicated tasks with this line location device. We look forward to the opportunity to being able to show the new systems.

AUS joins SebaKMT group
SebaKMT AUS is the joining of two great teams. Advanced Utility Solutions Pty Limited (AUS) and SebaKMT Holding Gmbh.
You may not have heard of Advanced Utility Solutions until recently. However, the team have had many years of experience in the market in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
Peter and Greg MacMahon are the principals of the company. Their previous business Mactek Pty Limited was purchased by Radiodetection in 2000. When RD was purchased by SPX in 2001 the MacMahon’s along with a number of RD people found themselves out of work.
After a few years and many approaches by previous customers the MacMahon’s decided to start again. Initially they started working with another new company Vivax and also had discussions with SebaKMT.
In 2007 it was decided to represent SebaKMT in the water products line and also represent Metrotech in the line location area. Working with Vivax, SebaKMT and Metrotech was a winning combination and in early 2008 discussions were held with the aim of forming a closer relationship.
AUS has had a very successful 2008 and has been able to re-introduce the SebaKMT range to Australia and New Zealand. AUS has also had some very good results with the power range and is planning a road show for the OWTS system in early 2009.
In December 2008 Dr Max Iann the President of SebaKMT Holding Gmbh was pleased to announce that they had taken a strategic share holding in AUS and the trading name SebaKMT AUS was now a subsidiary of the SebaKMT group.
Also in late 2008 SebaKMT AUS moved into their new office and warehouse facility at Cromer in Sydney. Their service facility is now also fully operation with 10 qualified technicians on hand to service the full SebaKMT range.
Peter and Greg have said that with everything now in place 2009 will be a big year. This will be despite all the doom and gloom being portrayed by the media. In Australia we are lucky that we have been sheltered from the main global meltdown. We are looking forward to a bright future together.
