ESG 80-2

Earth Fault Locator ESG 80-2 for pinpoint location of sheath faults. This instrument is a highly sensitive galvanometer and is provided with an amplifier. Interfering DC voltages can be suppressed with a compensation circuit.

The pinpoint location method:

Pinpoint location of a sheath fault is based on the step voltage method. The test current coming from a pulsed DC source up to 5 kV is flowing into the ground at the point of fault and results in a maximum step voltage at the fault.

This peak is located with the two earth spikes and the ESG 80-2 earth fault locator. When approaching the fault position, the step voltage increases and decreases after the fault with a change in polarity.

Technical features:

  • Active mode with amplification and compensation for repressing external voltage.
  • Passive mode for use without battery power supply 6 sensitivity ranges
  • Utmost measuring sensitivity for faults in the A range.
  • Easy handling and fault direction indication
  • Variable earth spike distance for high sensitivity, even far away from faults Sensitivity adjustable in 5 steps

Scope of Delivery:

  • Receiver ESG 80-2
  • earth spikes
  • 2 connecting leads
  • Set of batteries
  • Manual
